Adolescent Therapy
The period of adolescence and young adulthood comes with its own world of experiences. As a native Manhattanite, I am familiar with the unique pressures and dynamics that often accompany growing up in a city. Adolescent/young adult therapy provides the opportunity to have a safe, nonjudgemental and dedicated place to explore feelings, and collaboratively develop tools to help navigate this very unique period of life.
I often work with adolescents and young adults who:
-
Are experiencing ongoing feelings of sadness, difficulty with motivation, or who are no longer enjoying activities/experiences that they once did.
-
Find themselves worrying or ruminating and that it is affecting every day life and decision making.
-
Need a space to explore relationship dynamics including friendships, romantic relationships and/or dating.
-
Often find themselves fighting or disagreeing with a sibling and/or family member.
-
Are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or frustrated by school work, extracurriculars or by the college application process.
-
Find themselves comparing or feeling pressure from peers and/or experience feelings of low self-esteem and self-worth.
-
Are experiencing a life transition, including starting a new school, moving to a new place, or beginning/finishing college.
-
Have experienced a traumatic event whether as a child or in recent years.
-
Are struggling with substance misuse or addiction or have a parent/loved one who has struggled with either.
